Alright, I have been looking into purchasing a hand gun that is both reliable and concealable. The only one I have really been interested in Is the Baretta PX4 Storm Subcompact .40 S&W. I have gone to the gun shop and looked it over, field stripping it, feeling the weight of it(without ammo of course), and inspecting the quality. Being a machinist, I have a tendency to spot defects and mechanical issues a normal consumer wouldn't see, didn't see any but that doesn't mean another unit will be the same. It's very well put together with very little slop, can be broken down and assembled very easily. Myself being left handed, I enjoy the modular clip ejection button I can switch to the right side with no problem, as well as the dual safety switch. Another feature I liked was the finger divot in front of the trigger that allows you to rest your index finger, as well as the extended magazine flip down pinky rest, very ergonomic. Haven't been able to shoot it yet as most gun shops make you buy it once you put a round through it. Will be getting my class 3 permit and concealed carry license once I can make time in my busy work schedule, once that comes in I will be throwing down some cash for this piece.
Feel free to vote in the poll, I would really like to hear everyone's opinions.

Personally, the PX subcompact is one of the best feeling guns I've ever picked up. I've never been privileged enough to shoot one, but surely I'd love to get one and try it out.
I'm shooting an M&P 40 (full size) right now and starting to get warmed up to it. It's a solid gun, but I wouldn't want to carry it. I'm not the biggest fan of the grip. If you're target shooting it shouldn't be a problem, but in a scenario when you need multiple shots on target, the recoil gets a little sloppy because of that grip. Maybe it's just me, but it just seems almost like you can't grip high enough to control the recoil well enough.
I've always heard people praising the Glock 9mm and Beretta 9 as being two of the most reliable hand guns out there. My brother has a friend who's Dad owns his own line of firearms and is actually doing business with the government/military. They have some dope ass looking guns that are WAYYY more technical than the standard firearms I've seen. I'll have to see if I can find a link to the website, but these hand guns are in the couple of thousands range so, not practical unless you're really serious about owning a superior firearm.

Yeah glocks are well known to be reliable, until you use the wrong ammo, then you have stove piping and other malfunctions. That's the only problems I've noticed with them other than the guys shooting themselves in the foot.
Have been running a Glock for the past 6 years. The only factory ammo which has given me feeding problems are Wolf. Everything else works fine.
I actually am far more accurate with the 1911s and Beretta 92s but since so many of my friends have Glocks and I like the idea of consolidating weapons systems so we all have commonality of mags, spare parts, and calibers, that the 22s and 23s have become my GTHGN.
BTW, here's an upgraded Glock which some of you might appreciate.

I was searching for some accessories for the PX4 Storm and stumbled on a pretty kick ass carbine conversion kit. It's called the RONI: Pistol Carbine, made by CAA Tactical and it has conversions for pretty much every pistol on the market.
The applications for the CAA are limitless in an urban and/or clandestine scenario.
Think it merits personal investigation.

Alright, I finally was able to put some money aside for this piece. Here are some pictures, and size comparisons. Sorry for the shitty quality, I'll try to upload a video tomorrow when I get a chance.
Since we've had the concealed carry limits lifted in Maryland (effective August 7th, I believe) I've been looking into this myself. I've literally got no experience with guns, however my brother is a cop so offered to take me to the range and teach me the in's and out's and proper handling etc. It's just something I've always procrastinated about -- of course the mass shootings probably did spike gun purchases a bit as law-abiding people realize they should take steps to protect themselves/property etc. That's where I'm at at the moment.
I suppose this is the best topic for me to browse however I'm have a bit of an issue with viewing links on this forum. I've only been browsing here for about a week but links just don't seem to show up for me.

Really? No 1911 guys yet?
I carry a Springfield 1911 Operator. I'm honestly kind of spoiled by 1911 triggers by this point, so I stick almost solely to single action pistols and DA/SA revolvers. I have a CZ75B that I like a lot as well, and a Taurus 608 8-round .357 magnum I picked up pretty cheap that is my woods gun.
My current every day concealed carry weapon is an HK P7 German police model. The trigger and sight picture is just wonderful, and it's slim with rounded corners, making it easy to conceal, low recoil, and deadly accurate thanks to its fixed barrel. The squeeze cocking only adds to the safety and ease of use, though my ex girlfriend found it difficult to apply the 13 pounds of pressure needed to quickly place accurate shots.
My over all favorite combat handgun may very well be the CZ 75, and all its full sized variants. Just a fantastic handgun in every way, with bonus points for sexiness and affordability.
